Would this trade make sense for the Minnesota Timberwolves?
Some Minnesota Timberwolves fans might not be happy with this trade. In fact, with how close D’Angelo Russell and Karl-Anthony Towns are, this trade may not be likely at all. But in the long run, this could improve the team moving forward.
Obviously, the star power factor would be severely depleted. Russell is a part of their big three, and losing him for depth would hurt that. But that added depth might help more than it hurts. The Timberwolves don’t have a ton of depth, so adding four rotational pieces would be huge.
Mann is the face of this trade. He may already be 25 years old, but he’s still young in NBA years. The versatile wing has plenty of room to grow as both a scorer and defender, but is already more than sufficient in both of those areas. He’d be an immediate contributor for the Wolves and would be for years to come.
Minnesota ranks 21st in three-point percentage this season, and getting Kennard and Ibaka would help that a ton. Kennard is a sharpshooter, nailing 43.9 percent of his threes this year, and Ibaka’s up around 40 percent, too.

Lastly, Boston Jr. is a great prospect for the Wolves, as he’s dominated the G-League and shown some real potential at times in the NBA. Minnesota would be trading their third star for youth, quality depth, shooting, and a more well-rounded roster.
