When looking at the Houston Rockets, there is one glaring absence – John Wall. The point guard has made it clear that he will not accept a buyout but wants to play again. For a player signed to a supermax deal on a rebuilding team, that’s a problem.

It has been difficult to find a trade partner but there could be one here. To move a bad contract, the Rockets would need to take on at least Tobias Harris in a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers if it means landing Ben Simmons.

The 76ers have denied the fact that they are interested in Wall but desperate times could call for desperate measures. If the Sixers want to move Simmons at the deadline, Houston could use leverage and send Wall.

Philadelphia would also get Eric Gordon, who is one of the best three-point shooters in the league this season. There would be a few intriguing pieces like Jae’Sean Tate and Josh Christopher also added.

In return, Charles Bassey would be on his way to Houston. He is a young big man with a high ceiling in the league and could take the next step in an extended role. Paul Reed would be in the trade package, too.
