Would this trade make sense for the Philadelphia 76ers?
This may not be what the Philadelphia 76ers had in mind for a Ben Simmons trade, but it’s not a bad haul by any means. Not only would the 76ers be able to compete this season, but this core would put some amazing depth around Joel Embiid.
Gordon Hayward could take over at the power forward position. He’s having a much more efficient season than Tobias Harris and plays essentially the same role. The floor spacing he would provide for Embiid would be so many levels above what Harris provides.
Terry Rozier could take over at the one or the two, depending on what Philadelphia wants to do with Tyrese Maxey. He’s a super-efficient scorer, too. Plus, Kelly Oubre Jr. is the perfect bench piece to give them a scoring spark from range.
All that being said, this does not give Daryl Morey the return he’s looking for. He wants an All-Star-caliber player in return. Both Hayward and Rozier are riding that line, but neither is quite at that level just yet. That might not satisfy the Sixers.

In the end, it might be better for the Sixers to wait it out and try their luck at luring James Harden to Philly. However, if that path got closed off for whatever reason and there were no All-Stars on the market, this trade gives them a nice package.
