Would this trade make sense for the San Antonio Spurs?
The San Antonio Spurs are a rebuilding franchise with some pieces to rely on moving forward. Until recently, Jakob Poeltl was considered one of those pieces. He still might be. This is why it is a dream trade scenario for the Brooklyn Nets. If San Antonio did decide to move Poeltl, it would have to be worth it.
It is clear that the Spurs are focusing on building around Dejounte Murray and Keldon Johnson. They have both shown that they are legitimate threats for the future. It all comes down to what San Antonio feels is most important – a young, promising center or another draft pick.
Those are the two options they are facing. The Nets would be able to give them another first-round pick, to go along with their own lottery pick, or Poeltl will remain on the roster. When looking at the facts, it seems like there is no right or wrong answer for San Antonio.

They are not in a position to win and this gives them some different options when thinking about who to move and hang onto for the future.
Poeltl has shown plenty on both ends during his time with the Spurs. He has plenty of value and that is what the Spurs would want to take advantage of. On the other hand, fans could not be mad about hanging onto a strong center that has a chance to improve further in the league.
