Brooklyn Nets Receive: C Jakob Poeltl
San Antonio Spurs Receive: G/F Bruce Brown, C Nic Claxton, G Jevon Carter, 2028 First Round Pick
Jakob Poeltl should be considered a dream option for the Brooklyn Nets. The 26-year-old is a double-double threat every time he steps on the floor. He has turned himself into a legitimate big man since joining the San Antonio Spurs.
This is not surprising when looking at the track record of Gregg Popovich. Could the Spurs actually want to move on from Poeltl? Anything is possible but it would not be smart unless they get a return that is worth it.
That means the Nets would have to send some draft capital but they are simply unable to send any pick aside from one that is from 2028 considering they owe 2022, 2024, and 2026 picks to the Houston Rockets along with pick swap rights in 2023, 2025, and 2027.
If Poeltl were to be dealt to the Nets, the best the Spurs would be able to do in the draft compensation department would be a 2028 first-round pick as a result. However, they’d also receive Nic Claxton, Bruce Brown, and Jevon Carter in exchange.

If the Spurs are going to move Poeltl, this would be the year to do so. He is in the second year of a three-year, $26.3 million deal he signed with San Antonio. This means they would use his value and have some leverage given the fact that Poeltl has one year of team control left.
Let’s take a closer look and see how this trade would benefit both sides right away.
