Does this trade make sense for the Indiana Pacers?
Trading Caris LeVert is a move we should anticipate the Indiana Pacers making in the coming weeks, the only question though is where will he be traded to?
The Knicks and Cavaliers are the two teams that have been mentioned the most in trade rumors revolving around LeVert and while Evan Fournier’s three-point shooting is appealing to the Pacers, the biggest reward from this trade with New York is the 2022 first-round pick they get.
With the Knicks currently being on the outside of the Eastern Conference playoff picture, this pick is projected to be the 14th overall pick. As long as the Knicks do not get worse with LeVert, the Pacers would be adding a second first-round pick in 2022, giving them everything they need to continue building a sustainable, young core.
Chris Duarte and Isaiah Jackson are two promising looking first-round picks from this past year’s draft and with the addition of two more young prospects next to Domantas Sabonis and Malcoln Brogdon, the Pacers could take a step forward without really taking a major step back.

This is definitely a risky move for the Indiana Pacers to make, but Caris LeVert is nothing more than a secondary talent for this team. Trading him before his contract expires at the conclusion of next season makes sense for the Pacers and receiving both an impactful shooter and a 2022 first-round pick is fair compensation.
