Trade Package To Acquire Jerami Grant
Chicago Bulls Receive: F Jerami Grant
Detroit Pistons Receive: F Patrick Williams, F Derrick Jones Jr., 2022 First-Round Pick (via POR), 2027 First-Round Pick
The Chicago Bulls are going all-in on the 2021-22 season hoping to bring a title back to their city for the first time since Michael Jordan was suiting up for the team. Jerami Grant could help them separate themselves from the other contenders in the Eastern Conference as they would be a potentially dominant team on both ends of the court.
But, to acquire him, Detroit will hold out for as much as they can get for their best player. Patrick Williams is included as the centerpiece of this deal. Standing 6’7” he has the tools to become an elite, versatile defender and won’t turn 21-years old until later this year.
That kind of high-upside player is exactly what the Pistons will be looking for in return. They could also ask for Coby White in a deal, but given the injuries to Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso, the Bulls may deem him untouchable.
Not getting white, the Pistons settle for two first-round picks. The first of which may not be conveyed this season, as the Portland Trail Blazers are battling just to make the NBA Play-In Tournament in the Western Conference.

2027 is the next time the Bulls can trade a first-rounder because they already owe other ones and a team cannot go consecutive seasons without one.
Derrick Jones Jr. is included in the deal to help match salary. He is making $9.7 million this season but is on an expiring deal, so the Pistons could be able to clear some cap space.

Detroit would be happy getting one player with immense potential in Williams in exchange for Grant. The draft picks are icing on top, as this is a deal that would likely stick out among the ones the Pistons will be receiving from other contenders.
