Are We Headed For Harden-For-Simmons Swap?
James Harden is at the top of the 76ers’ “wish list” and this makes perfect sense given his relationship with 76ers’ president of basketball operations Daryl Morey.
Taking over as the general manager of the Houston Rockets in 2007, Morey was instrumental in the Rockets acquisition of James Harden from the Oklahoma City Thunder and the two built a strong relationship with one another.
Daryl Morey always put James Harden and his needs first in Houston and he could be willing to do the same with him again in Philadelphia next to Joel Embiid.
Pick-and-roll sets are such an important part of James Harden’s game, but throughout his entire career, he has never really played with an All-Star big man. Clint Capela was the best big man he ever played with in Houston, but Joel Embiid is a completely different animal.

This duo alone could cause havoc in the Eastern Conference for years to come, but the key question that remains is if the 76ers could actually pull off acquiring James Harden?
Given their large tax bill, signing James Harden would not be able to occur, but a sign-and-trade with Brooklyn is definitely on the table, especially if the 76ers hold onto Ben Simmons and have him to match Harden’s contract in a trade during free agency.

There are a lot of factors that go into this potential massive acquisition, including the success of the Nets this season, but the idea of Harden leaving Brooklyn for Philadelphia definitely seems real and believable given the circumstances.
