Would this trade make sense for the Portland Trail Blazers?

Meanwhile, this trade would give the Portland Trail Blazers to form an All-Star-caliber big three. The trio of Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum, and Domantas Sabonis would be one of the most talented trios in the NBA.

People are focused on splitting up Lillard and McCollum, but getting a third star to play alongside them might be the even better option. Sabonis is an extremely talented frontcourt player who can do a little bit of everything at an elite level.

He may not be the best defender (which is one of Portland’s biggest weaknesses) but he would certainly transform what their offense looks like. Plus, his rebounding alone should be able to help them close out possessions on the defensive end.

Blazers fans might be hesitant to give up Anfernee Simons in a trade based on his recent play, but that’s the cost of stars nowadays. Keeping Simons might be great for the future, but adding Sabonis would be worlds better for trying to win right now.

Three All-Stars is (almost) always better than two. Stars win championships in the NBA. This would give the Trail Blazers three stars. Instead of trying to run everything through their elite backcourt, Portland would now have an elite frontcourt player, too.
