Does this trade make sense for the Lakers?
Trading Russell Westbrook at this point for anything of value seems to make sense for the Lakers. Los Angeles went “all-in” by trading Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope for him in the offseason instead of finalizing a trade for Kings’ sharpshooter Buddy Hield and unfortunately for the Lakers, they lost this bet!
LeBron James has carried teams to the NBA Finals in the past with less talent than he has now, so anything is certainty possible, but the Lakers barely have any perimeter shooting and the Lakers may have to get past the two best teams in the NBA in the Suns and Warriors en route to a possible NBA Finals berth this season.
All the odds are stacked against the Lakers right now and unless they can add value and role players that can make a difference at the trade deadline, it is hard to envision this team making it past the first-round of the playoffs.
When Anthony Davis returns, the Lakers will look more like a playoff team rather than the fringe play-in tournament team they look like now, but Marcus Morris, Serge Ibaka and Eric Bledsoe would all make a big difference for this organization.

All three guys can have an impact on both ends of the floor and Morris has been on-fire as of late with Paul George out of the rotation. Adding more depth to their roster in this trade at the expense of basically nothing makes sense for the Lakers, but there is no way they can convince the LA Clippers to make this trade.
