Does this trade make sense for the Houston Rockets?

The Houston Rockets front-office should be willing to trade John Wall to the Boston Celtics for the rights to Kevin Garnett, a 2040 second-round pick and two tickets to a Patriots game next season! 

Any trade in which they can get John Wall off their books is a good trade for the Rockets, even if they do not get a lot of value back in return. Maybe Al Horford and Josh Richardson are nothing more than players they waive or look to trade again, but at least they are something for the Rockets to get. 

Not to mention, the value that Houston can get in this trade is freeing up over $40M in cap space by trading John Wall! Obviously they would not want to take too many contracts back because the Rockets are going to have to deal with contract situations on their roster soon. 

Kevin Porter Jr. is going to be eligible for a contract extension soon and Christian Wood only has one more year left on his contract after this season.

Expected to have multiple suitors in 2023 free agency, the Rockets are going to have to have a lot of cap space if they are to keep Christian Wood long-term, assuming that they do not trade him in the coming weeks. 

Moving John Wall opens the door for the Rockets to make a lot of good moves for their organization, which is why this trade makes sense other than the fact of giving up Jae’Sean Tate. Maybe they could get away with trading a veteran like D.J. Augustin instead, but trading Wall definitely makes sense here.
