Does this trade make sense for the Boston Celtics?
If he was to be bought out of his contract, the Boston Celtics would definitely try to seize this opportunity by signing John Wall, but trading for him just seems out of the question at this point.
Boston is not going to want to try to move Marcus Smart in a trade for John Wall, which is why it would take Al Horford, Josh Richardson and another “salary-filler” type player.
Getting Jae’Sean Tate and a first-round pick in this trade is definitely solid current and future value to be had, but there is no reason that the Celtics should want to relinquish the little bit of depth they have with Horford and Richardson for a high-concern player like John Wall.
Maybe this trade could absolutely work in favor of the Celtics, as they would have three “All-Star-like” talents on their team with a handful of role players like Marcus Smart, Payton Pritchard and now Jae’Sean Tate, but the risk is just too great for them to pursue this deal.
