Does this trade make sense for the Golden State Warriors?

After missing the playoffs in back-to-back seasons, the Golden State Warriors find themselves with one of the best records in the entire league and they have arguably the most amount of depth out of any team in the NBA.

Why in the world would they give up two of their brightest young talents in Wiseman and Moody, as well as a key veteran that has played very well off the bench in Bjelica?

This trade makes zero sense whatsoever for the Warriors, even though Myles Turner would be a huge addition for them. Being one of the league’s best shot-blockers and being an impactful center in pick-and-roll sets offensively, Turner would absolutely have an impact in Golden State, but in addition to the insane amount of value that the team would have to give up for him, Myles Turner is currently hurt.

There is no reason whatsoever that the Warriors should want to sacrifice their future for a big man who is currently out and could be out well past the trade deadline.

Being under contract through next season and then set to become an unrestricted free agent, the Warriors would basically be putting all of their eggs in one basket by making this trade, hoping that they can win the next two championships. Not to mention, the Warriors’ tax bill would go up even higher than it already is since they would be taking on an extra $3.1M in salaries this season.

James Wiseman and Moses Moody present a very high-potential future and could very well contribute to the current championship-level GM Bob Myers and the Warriors have assembled, which is why this is one of the worst trades the Warriors could make this season.
