Would this trade make sense for the Boston Celtics?
On the flip side, this is not a no-brainer for the Boston Celtics. In fact, with how they’ve coveted the duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, it’s highly unlikely that they would consider this type of trade… but it could actually help.
The frontcourt of Kristaps Porzingis and Robert Williams would be electric. If Porzingis could ever get his shooting numbers back up, that would be close to a perfect combination. Both are solid interior defenders and would wreak havoc in the paint.
Meanwhile, the Celtics could potentially have their point guard of the future in Jalen Brunson. He’s still got tons of potential and would lead the C’s in assists right now as is. Imagine how many assists he could average when he’s not playing with a guy like Luka Doncic.
Boston would also get Dorian Finney-Smith, a starting-caliber forward who spaces the floor well, and Sterling Brown, who has shown some potential as a shooter. Again, this trade would be all about the Celtics prioritizing depth over star power.

The C’s have made it perfectly clear that they’re not interested in Brown, so don’t expect him to be moved anytime soon. That being said, if they were to change their minds, this trade wouldn’t be too bad for them. It could actually set them up nicely for the future.
