Would this trade make sense for the Dallas Mavericks?
For the Dallas Mavericks, this would give them a chance to cement their dynamic duo for the next five to seven years. Kristaps Porzingis is great, and he’s putting together a solid season, but Jaylen Brown is clearly the better player at this point, and he still has more room to grow.
Brown is awing that can play either the two or the three with ease. That’s exactly the type of player Dallas should desperately want next to Luka Doncic. He’s someone who can take most of the defensive pressure off of Doncic while also providing some relief on the offensive end.
His ability to knock down threes would be huge for the Mavs, too. Not only can he act as a secondary scorer behind Doncic, but he’s also great off the ball. Brown is a career 37.7 percent three-point shooter who would definitely help with Dallas’ spacing issues.
The Mavs would definitely have to figure out how to fill the rest of the roster out after this trade, though. Losing Porzingis is one thing, but they’d also be losing both Jalen Brunson and Dorian Finney-Smith. Adding Dennis Schroder and Romeo Langford would definitely help with that, however.

Dallas should make this trade ten times out of ten, especially considering both Brunson and Finney-Smith will be free agents at the end of the year. Their backcourt of the future would be set in place, and Doncic and Brown could dominate for years.
