Would this trade make sense for the Washington Wizards?
For the Washington Wizards, this trade would give them a bit of long-term clarity. Anthony Davis has two more years (and a player option) on his deal after this season, unlike Bradley Beal, who could leave at the end of this year if he so chooses.
Plus, they would still have a very solid backcourt. This trade would simply improve their already solid frontcourt, and if Davis could get back to playing the way he has in years past, this deal could catapult them right back into the playoff race
If this deal was completed, Washington’s starting lineup could look something like this – Spencer Dinwiddie, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Kyle Kuzma, Davis, and Daniel Gafford. They would then still have Montrezl Harrell and others coming off the bench.
The Wizards would just have to shift from building around Beal to building around Davis instead. That’s a pretty clear upgrade, plus they’d have some long-term plans rather than working in the realm of the unknown, as they are with Beal.

Again, this deal is extremely unlikely to happen. Beal will almost certainly end the season with the Wizards, and Davis will probably end up on the Lakers for close to the rest of his career. But if both teams were looking to trade these guys, a swap wouldn’t be a bad idea for either side.
