Would this trade make sense for the Los Angeles Lakers?
Adding Myles Turner would give the Los Angeles Lakers a definitive answer at the center position. Right now, their main options are Dwight Howard and DeAndre Jordan. They’ve even defaulted to running LeBron James at the center to avoid that.
While James has been playing fine at the five, it’s obviously not ideal in the grand scheme of things. Trading for a starting-caliber center With Turner’s skillset would completely transform the way the Lakers are able to play on both ends of the floor.
His offense would give them an extra floor spacer, and his defense would shore up some of their issues in the paint. Plus, having him around would allow Anthony Davis to play power forward full-time once he returns from injury.
Plus, nabbing Torrey Craig in this deal would be a quiet, underrated move. Craig is a great two-way defender who can do a little bit of everything on both ends. In terms of 3&D wings that can help at the end of the rotation, you won’t find many better than Craig, especially at his salary.

Giving up Talen Horton-Tucker and Austin Reaves would definitely hurt the Lakers’ future, but they shouldn’t be concerned with the future right now. With James on the roster, they need to make moves to help them win right now, and this trade does just that.
