Blockbuster Trade Houston Rockets Must Make
Houston Rockets Receive: G Goran Dragic, C/F Chris Boucher, F/C Precious Achiuwa, 2022 First-Round Pick, 2024 First-Round Pick
Toronto Raptors Receive: C Christian Wood, G Eric Gordon
The Houston Rockets are going to be open for business. In this deal, they come to terms with the Toronto Raptors, who decide to capitalize on their good performance this season and push closer to cementing a spot in the postseason.
The Raptors land Christian Wood in this deal, filling the void in the middle of their lineup. It could take some time for Nick Nurse to figure out how to deploy Wood alongside Pascal Siakam and Scottie Barnes, but that is a good problem for any coach to have.
They also bolster their backcourt and wings with veteran Eric Gordon. Gordon has been great shooting the 3-ball this season and will bolster the Raptors’ second unit. Toronto already has five players averaging at least 15 points per game this season and add two more that are capable of reaching that plateau as well.
To accomplish that, the Raptors have to part ways with two first-round draft picks to compensate for the lack of high-upside players heading back to Houston.
