Blockbuster Trade Dallas Mavericks Must Pursue
Dallas Mavericks Receive: C Myles Turner
Indiana Pacers Receive: G Josh Green, C Dwight Powell, C Willie Cauley-Stein, 2022 First-Round Pick, 2025 First-Round Pick (Lottery Protected)
The Indiana Pacers are one team that looks like they will be aggressive as sellers ahead of the trade deadline. They have made three key players in Domantas Sabonis, Myles Turner and Caris LeVert, available.
The Mavericks could try and swing a deal for Sabonis, as he could help the team in their search for more playmaking outside of Luka Doncic. However, Dallas would likely be better off upgrading at the center position, which makes Turner a perfect target for the team.
To land him, Dallas surrenders arguably their best young, trade asset in Josh Green, a first-round pick from the 2020 NBA Draft. For a team looking to rebuild on the fly, he could find consistent minutes on the wing with the Pacers.
Dwight Powell will help replace some of Turner’s minutes at the center spot, while Willie Cauley-Stein can do the same. Cauley-Stein is included mostly to help match salary and as an expiring deal, Indiana will save some money.

Indiana also cashes in with some draft capital, landing a first-round pick in this year’s draft that is unprotected. To make up for the lack of high-upside young players or people that can help the Pacers remain competitive now, a 2025 first-round pick with lottery protection is included as well.
Indiana will receive plenty of strong offers for Turner, and to make their package stick out, the Mavericks have to surrender more draft capital as they cannot offer as intriguing of a package of players.
