Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: F John Collins, G Delon Wright
Atlanta Hawks Receive: G D’Angelo Russell, C Naz Reid, F Jaylen Nowell, G Josh Okogie, 2025 First-Round Pick
This trade may look clunky at first, but it could end up helping both teams in the long run. The Atlanta Hawks would get a solid second option to pair with Trae Young and some nice young defenders.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves would get a frontcourt co-star to put next to Karl-Anthony Towns.
John Collins is putting up stellar numbers this season in terms of efficiency. He’s averaging 17.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.0 assists while shooting 54.1 percent from the field and 42.7 percent from deep.
Meanwhile, D’Angelo Russell has been solid for Minnesota, averaging 18.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 6.9 assists per game on 39.8-34.5 shooting splits. The three others heading to Atlanta in this deal have been playing alright, too.

Josh Okogie has struggled on offense this season, but his defense is, and always has been great. Jaylen Nowell has shown flashes of great play, and his shooting splits are solid. Naz Reid is a versatile big man who can space the floor a bit and still get down and dirty.
Again, this is a pretty weird trade, but with the Atlanta Hawks struggling, they could look to shake things up. Something clearly isn’t working. But why should both teams consider a deal like this? How would it help both sides improve?
