The Atlanta Hawks have not had the success this season that they were hoping to. After going on a magical run that concluded in the Eastern Conference Finals in the 2021 postseason, the Hawks are struggling to even get into the NBA Play-In Tournament.

Atlanta is currently 17-22 on the season, 1.5 games out of the final play-in spot. While making a run and getting back into the postseason is the goal for the franchise, they do have some other things to take care of. Atop that list, repairing their relationship with John Collins.

Collins and the Hawks agreed to a five-year, $125 million deal in restricted free agency. Atlanta knew they wanted him as part of their core along with Trae Young and locked him into the long-term contract.

However, things are not going great in that regard. Collins is reportedly unhappy with his role on the team and his frustration is growing. His shots per game and usage rate have both decreased for the third season in a row, as his role in the offense is shrinking. Atlanta has a lot of players that need the ball offensively, but Collins’ improvements should warrant a bigger role, not a diminishing one.

The fifth-year big-man has tried to be a leader in the locker room as well but feels that his attempts to bring the team together have fallen on deaf ears. While trade wasn’t requested, if things don’t change, the Hawks could have a disgruntled player on their hands looking for a change of scenery.

If that occurred, there would be plenty of teams lining up to acquire the 24-year old Wake Forest product. Here are three teams that should pursue a trade for Collins.
