Los Angeles Lakers Receive: G Kyle Lowry, F Duncan Robinson
Miami Heat Receive: G Russell Westbrook

Creating a hypothetical trade between the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers isn’t easy as both teams are in similar positions. Their rosters are top-heavy and both teams lack draft capital. But, if the urge arises to make a deal, it is feasible.

Maybe the Miami Heat want to get out of some of the long-term money they committed this offseason? If that is true, this deal would help accomplish that. Russell Westbrook is owed a ton of money but runs through 2023 if he picks up his player option for next season.

Kyle Lowry, on the other hand, signed a deal through 2024. Duncan Robinson’s is even longer, as he signed a five-year, $90 million deal the Heat could be having some buyer’s remorse about if he cannot get his 3-point shooting back on track.

For the Lakers, Lowry and Robinson fit much better alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis than Westbrook is. Lowry can set the tone defensively and is an excellent 3-point shooter. Despite his struggles, this season from long distance, Robinson has the track record of a high-volume, efficient shooter.

Westbrook could fit into Heat Culture well, as he and Jimmy Butler are both fiery competitors that just want to win. His skill set may not fit as perfectly as Lowry’s, but the monetary savings for Miami long-term is something that could intrigue them.
