Would this trade make sense for the Sacramento Kings?

Trading for Ben Simmons would change the entire outlook of the Sacramento Kings organization. They’ve been horrendous on defense this year, and adding a guy with as much talent on that end as Simmons has would change that completely.

Simmons could start at the power forward position for the Kings, taking over as their primary defender at all times. He would also give them a huge boost in the playmaking department, as well as a better paint presence.

A lot of Kings fans may be hesitant to give up on Haliburton, though, and rightfully so. He’s playing like a future All-Star right now. But trading him now and capitalizing on that value could be in the best interest of the team moving forward. It’d help put De’Aaron Fox in a better position to succeed.

Losing Barnes would also obviously hurt, but Simmons would be a major upgrade over him, anyway. It would make the team younger and give them a perennial All-Star to put alongside Fox. Hopefully, that duo would be talented enough to end their playoff doubt.

The Kings may wish to trade Fox over Haliburton, and that could be something the 76ers may be on board with as well. It all just depends on which player they would rather have, but trading one of the two for Simmons could be in Sacramento’s best interest.
