Philadelphia 76ers Receive: G Tyrese Haliburton, F Harrison Barnes, F/C Marvin Bagley III, 2023 First-Round Pick
Sacramento Kings Receive: G/F Ben Simmons, F Georges Niang
This is the sort of Ben Simmons trade that would make sense for both sides. While the 76ers wouldn’t be getting an All-Star-caliber player, like Morey has been wishing for, they’d get good pieces. Meanwhile, the Kings would receive a franchise-changing defensive anchor.
Simmons has not appeared in a game yet this season, but just last season he was the runner-up for the Defensive Player of the Year award. In addition, Georges Niang has played great this year. He’s averaging 10.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 44.5 percent from the field and 39.9 percent from deep.
Tyrese Haliburton has been playing very well this season. He’s averaging 13.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game while shooting 46.1 percent from the field and 43.5 percent from deep. Haliburton’s numbers skyrocketed during the period of time where De’Aaron Fox was out, too.
As for Harrison Barnes, he’s averaging 16.5 points on 42.0 percent shooting from deep. Marvin Bagley III has also been showing some signs of life. He’s not putting up crazy numbers, but he’s also received somewhat limited opportunities in Sacramento.

That’s likely the best trade that could be offered in order to satisfy both parties. Simmons would get a chance to start over in a new place, while the Sixers would be getting some quality pieces to help them contend for a championship.
Overall, though, why would the Philadelphia 76ers do this deal?
