Now this is certainly a big deal that could take place, but this is just the framework of the deal. There would definitely be some draft compensation being moved around here between the Toronto Raptors and Boston Celtics, as well as the potential for a third team to get involved in the trade for Goran Dragic.
Since acquiring him from the Heat in the sign-and-trade deal that sent Kyle Lowry to the Miami Heat this past offseason, Goran Dragic has only played in 5 games for the Raptors and is currently sitting out until the team decides on what to do about his future.
In the final year of his contract and making $19.4M, not many teams in the league have been interested in Dragic and it is hard to believe that Boston would be, even if they did get rid of Marcus Smart.
Maybe Goran Dragic could fit in with the Celtics and give them some backcourt depth, but if they were to move Smart, then Boston would throw Dennis Schroder into the starting rotation and have Payton Pritchard step into a bigger role off-the-bench.

Moving Siakam is something that the Raptors have definitely had internal discussions about at times, but they have been unwilling to talk about trade scenarios with other teams across the NBA.
Getting a lot of value for him now is definitely not a bad idea, but in this deal, would they really be getting enough value?
Marcus Smart just signed a long-term deal with the Celtics that pays him $90M through the 2025-26 season, Al Horford is owed $26.5M next season with $14.5M of this contract being partially-guaranteed and Romeo Langford is a former lottery pick that has not panned out in the NBA.

There is a lot of risk, specifically on the financial side of things, that Toronto would assume in this trade.
Testing the trade market on Siakam is not a bad idea, but this trade with Boston may not be the best idea for them right now, especially since they are going to be battling with the Celtics every single season moving forward for playoff positioning.
