How This Trade Impacts Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers have dominated headlines because of all the Ben Simmons trade chatter. While that deserves a lot of attention, the team still has a lot of things to focus on, such as who will be the starting point guard?
If the 76ers are going to make another trade, they don’t have many pieces to build a package with. Sure, they would like to move on from Tobias Harris, but there isn’t much of a market for him. Danny Green could have a solid market, but if he is shopped, this likely isn’t the kind of package they would be interested in.
Ross would bring a scoring element to the 76ers that Green doesn’t. He is a microwave off the bench and can heat up at any moment. But, the 76ers value Green for the defense that he brings.
Ross would be a sizable downgrade defensively compared to Green. Ross has a more diverse offensive game, and in theory, could help compensate for some of the playmaking losses the team would suffer without Simmons. But, the drop-off defensively may be too much to overcome.

Philadelphia’s defense is already going to take a hit with Simmons out of the picture. Taking another one by trading Green away may be too much for the team to overcome.
If the 76ers could build a package using some of their younger bench pieces and wanted to add the established Ross, that would make more sense. Trading their starting shooting guard and best perimeter defender for a good sixth man isn’t a deal Philadelphia would have too much motivation to make.
