How This Trade Impacts Orlando Magic
The Orlando Magic are likely going to shop Terrence Ross throughout the season. They are rebuilding and having an explosive sixth man isn’t something that will help them out too much. Seeing what they could get for him on the open market would make sense.
It would be a surprise if this was the best they could get for him. Orlando would likely prefer a younger player they can try developing over Danny Green, but there would be some positives to bringing on the veteran.
Orlando is a young team that needs some veteran leadership. Green, along with free-agent signing Robin Lopez, would be able to provide that. His 3-point shooting and defense are two things the Magic desperately need more of.
The second year of Green’s contract is also non-guaranteed, so Orlando would be saving some money swapping him out for Ross. The first-round pick gives them another bargaining chip for future trades as well.

Green likely wouldn’t be thrilled with this trade, as he wants to play for a contending team at this stage of his career. Were Orlando to do this trade, they would likely look to flip Green again soon for more assets. Plenty of contending teams would love to add his skill set to their roster and would likely be willing to offer draft compensation for him.
This would be a nice double-dip for the Magic, as they would get the draft pick from the 76ers and likely be able to extract more from another team for Green.
