Dallas Mavericks

This season has not gone the way the Mavericks have hoped thus far and while they are 14-15, they have a lot of work to do if they are to remain real threats in the Western Conference. The Dallas Mavericks know what to expect from Luka Doncic night-in and night-out and Kristaps Porzingis has played well this season, but three-point shooting is a big issue for the Mavs.

Ever since they got rid of Seth Curry following the 2019-20 season, the Mavericks have really struggled from deep and so far this season, they are shooting just 32.7% from deep as a team, the sixth-worst percentage in the entire league.

The Mavericks have a lot of other problems to figure out other than becoming a better shooting team from the perimeter, but they had thought they addressed this problem in the offseason by signing Reggie Bullock and Sterling Brown.

Well, Bullock is shooting just 27.4% from deep on the year and has made just 15 of his last 69 shots (21.7%) from beyond-the-arc.

As for Sterling Brown, he is shooting just 26.1% from distance and has continued to struggle finding his rhythm coming off the bench.

Luka Doncic can do everything in his power to help the Mavericks win games and he will be able to have some miraculous nights in which they win a game that they should not have, but there will be many more nights that they lose games they should not have because of their lack of depth and scoring.

Buddy Hield would not make this team an instant contender in the Western Conference, but he would provide some much-needed stability, which is a great start for them to try and win their first playoff series since they won their lone title in 2011.

The Mavericks are tight on cap space, so in order to make this trade work, they would not only need to find a way to move Dwight Powell ($11M) in said deal, but possibly move Reggie Bullock ($9.5M) or Maxi Kleber ($8.7M) as well.

The Dallas Mavericks can make this trade work with Sacramento, but they would likely have to give up some draft compensation since the Kings would not really be getting value in Powell or Bullock, should that be the deal presented to them.
