3 Potential Trade Destinations For Kings’ Buddy Hield

Sacramento Kings

The Sacramento Kings are looking to end their 15-year playoff drought this season and currently 13-18, they are looking like they will have their chance to do so via the NBA’s play-in tournament. However, there is still a lot of basketball yet to be played and if there is anything we know about the Kings, it is that they know how to screw things up.

Their management has been very inconsistent with making moves over the years and with the way they have handled relationships with some of the players on their roster, it is very likely that there will be changes to this Kings’ roster ahead of the trade deadline.

Tristan Thompson, Marvin Bagley III, and Harrison Barnes have been brought up in trade rumors recently, but so has Buddy Hield, who still has two years left on his contract after this season.

Hield has been brought up in trade rumors a lot throughout the last two seasons and most recently, he was involved in a trade that almost went through ahead of the 2021 NBA Draft.

The Kings had a verbal agreement in place to send Buddy Hield to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for a trade package that reportedly included the likes of Kyle Kuzma and Montrezl Harrell, but then the Lakers backed out at the last minute, instead of trading Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and a draft pick to the Washington Wizards for Russell Westbrook.

So far, this deal has not worked out in the Lakers’ favor and they are probably wishing that they had Buddy Hield because the sharpshooting wing has put together a really good season in Sacramento thus far.

In 31 games, Hield is averaging 16.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists and is shooting 37.4% from the three-point line. Not to mention, Hield also ranks second in the league in made threes and second in the league in bench scoring.

With this said, let’s take a look at three teams who could try to pursue the Kings’ wing not only to try and make a playoff run, but to try and get to the playoffs!
