Does this trade make sense for the Boston Celtics?
Trading Dennis Schroder is something we will likely see the Boston Celtics do ahead of this season’s trade deadline, but this move with the Nuggets almost seems like a lateral move. JaMychal Green is not a better scorer than that of Dennis Schroder and while he would provide some more depth in their frontcourt, what do the Celtics really have to gain from this?
The Boston Celtics need to add more bench talents, which Green certainly is, but he would not be the player to fix their recent misfortunes. JaMychal Green is a strong rebounder and defender, but other than being a player that sees 15-20 minutes per game, he does not bring a whole lot of value to this team.
However, his three-point shooting percentage is something Boston would benefit from and it never hurts to have another experienced player they can turn to. Dennis Schroder is a valuable asset right now, whether you think so or not, and the Celtics should be able to get a solid return for him should they leverage him ahead of the trade deadline.
This return from Denver is not what they should be looking for though. Should Boston trade Schroder, they should be looking to add some future value to their team, as well as a veteran player that can contribute right away.

Maybe JaMychal Green is someone the Boston Celtics should want to add, but he is not the only talent/asset Boston would want from Denver. They would need to be getting at least a valuable draft pick and another player from the Nuggets in order to make this trade worthwhile.
