Dallas Mavericks

When you look at the Dallas Mavericks as a whole, the biggest thing that sticks out is that they do not have consistent play-around Luka Doncic. While he is arguably a Top-5 player in the league right now, Doncic cannot single-handedly carry this team, which is why this front-office needs to get him help.

Kristaps Porzingis has played well when healthy this season, Tim Hardaway Jr. is a high-level catch-and-shoot threat and guys like Maxi Kleber and Dorian Finney-Smith have played their roles, but it has not been good enough for this team to excel in the Western Conference.

None of these four guys mentioned above can create for themselves, which puts a lot of the weight of this Mavericks’ franchise on the shoulders of Luka Doncic. By going out and trading for one of the Pacers’ three high-level talents, the Mavericks would not only be getting another playmaker but someone who they can pair with Kristaps Porzingis and Luka Doncic to form a new “Big 3” in the West.

Domantas Sabonis paired with Doncic not only allows the young Mavericks’ star to be more of a scorer than a facilitator, but it would take an enormous amount of strain and pressure off of Kristaps Porzingis, allowing him to be more of a spot-up scorer as well.

Caris LeVert could be a scoring weapon on the wing for the Mavericks and while they have an abundance of centers right now, Myles Turner would help them tremendously on defense. The Mavericks currently rank 16th in defensive rating and they will need to get better if they are to have a shot at advancing past the first round of the playoffs.

Myles Turner makes them much better defensively and could also be a factor on offense as a pick-and-roll shooter after setting a screen for Doncic or Brunson. The Dallas Mavericks need to be willing to make a big move at some point and this could very well be their chance to do so.

They do not have much cap space, but they do have moveable contracts and should be wanting to improve their roster ahead of the trade deadline. The Pacers have three players that could help the Mavericks right now, but putting together a trade that could interest Indiana could be tough for Dallas to do.
