Does this trade make sense for the Los Angeles Lakers?

If this trade is available for the Lakers, they should be willing to inherit the risks that come with it. Justin Holiday is a guy that can be a plug-and-play player for them on the wing right away and when TJ Warren returns from his foot injury, he can be a fourth high-level scorer for this team that also makes an impact defensively.

However, the Lakers have been unwilling to give up Talen Horton-Tucker in the past and Kendrick Nunn has yet to even play a game for them. Not to mention, Malik Monk has arguably been their best bench player next to Carmelo Anthony this season.

The Lakers do not need to make a trade in order to find success this season, they just need to first get healthy and then buy into each other. Chemistry is such an important thing in the NBA and while the Lakers certainly have the talent to win a championship, they are just a bunch of guys and names on a roster together.

If guys do not play well together, then that team is not going to win a championship and that is where the Lakers are at right now. They do not have a coaching problem, nor a hole on their roster to fill.

This team has a personnel problem and an ego problem right now, something many said would be the problem at the beginning of the year even though LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook put their “egos aside” in the summer.

A trade could definitely help them, but the Lakers have everything they need already to be a force in the league, they just need to believe that they can be this kind of team. With LeBron James back and healthy again, things should begin to trend in the right direction.

There is no need for this team to rush any trade talks, so if they do make any moves, it will be closer to February’s trade deadline, but they do need to begin turning things around rather quickly.

At 13-12, the rest of the Western Conference is not going to wait around for the Lakers to figure things out, which is why they could find themselves in a similar situation to last year where they ended up in the play-in tournament should they not figure things out this month.

Los Angeles does not need to make a trade right now and while Warren and Holiday could help this team, so could Horton-Tucker, Monk and Nunn.
