Indiana Pacers Receive: C James Wiseman, F Jonathan Kuminga, G Moses Moody
Golden State Warriors Receive: F Domantas Sabonis
Looking back on how the Golden State Warriors got to where they are today, it is very clear to see that the Warriors have one of the best developmental teams in the entire NBA. Unlike high market teams in the NBA who just look to spend all of their money in free agency every single year in hopes of winning a title, the Warriors built their team through the NBA Draft.
Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Jordan Poole and even Kevon Looney were all drafted by the Warriors and the list could go on and on of players that won a title and are no longer on this Warriors’ team.
Building for the future has been such a large part of this franchise and after having two lottery picks this past offseason and drafting James Wiseman second overall last year, the Warriors once again have their blueprints for future success.
James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody, Jordan Poole and you can even throw Andrew Wiggins in the mix for all being young talents that represent the next decade or so of Warriors’ basketball.

We all hope that Curry, Thompson and Green have plenty of years left in the tank, but the reality of this team is that these three guys will not be around forever. At some point, the torch will have to be passed down to the next generation of stars, which looks very promising right now because of the moves Bob Myers has made for this team.
Golden State was unwilling to trade Kuminga or Moody this past offseason after drafting them in the lottery, which is why they will likely continue to turn down offers for them. While neither rookie may be a large part of the Warriors’ rotation right now, each guy brings something different in terms of future success for this team.
Everything about this trade for Golden State circles back to the idea of whether or not winning now or in the future is more important. Domantas Sabonis has made the All-Star Game in back-to-back seasons and is one of the best facilitating big men in the league, but do the Warriors need him in order to win a championship?
After all, their “small-ball” approach to the game with Draymond Green at the center position has resulted in quite a few championships over the years, so this organization has proven time and time again that they do not need a big man to win games!

Bringing in Domantas Sabonis definitely has its advantages for an already powerhouse team, but this cost may be way too high for the Golden State Warriors.
