Does this trade make sense for the Indiana Pacers?

Trading Myles Turner is something we could very well see happen this season, but this is definitely not the trade that he will be moved in. It is possible that Turner could make his way to the Mavericks, but Dwight Powell, Josh Green, and Sterling Brown is not a lot of value for a team like the Pacers right now.

Powell is coming off an Achilles tear during the 2019-20 season and may never be the same impactful player he once looked to be. Sterling Brown is nothing more than a bench player for this team and then Josh Green is a valuable young talent, but it will take time for him to become a worthwhile rotational player.

Nothing about this trade gives the Pacers immediate value and one first-round pick three years from now is not going to get the job done for Indiana. Myles Turner means a lot to them right now and the only way the Pacers are going to trade him is if they get a lot in return.

A third or fourth team would have to get involved in this deal with the Mavericks in order to get the Pacers the value they want for Myles Turner, but this just does not seem possible right now given situations around the league.

Moving Domantas Sabonis to the full-time center position is something we could definitely see if Turner is moved, but it is hard to believe that the Pacers will look to move their defensive star until they are at least at full-strength.

With Caris LeVert and T.J. Warren still dealing with injuries, the Pacers would be left very thin right now if they were to trade away Myles Turner. This team believes that they have a shot to make the playoffs and be competitive, which is why this trade with the Dallas Mavericks makes zero sense for the Indiana Pacers.
