Would this trade make sense for the Philadelphia 76ers?
There has been impressive production from Seth Curry for the Philadelphia 76ers since he was traded to the team from the Dallas Mavericks. Not having to move him in this deal is an intriguing outcome.
While Curry has undoubtedly been a key contributor, there are limitations to the level of impact he can provide as a foundational piece. CJ McCollum can get downhill with more force while being a perimeter shot creator and just general initiator of the half-court offense.
Curry is more of an off the catch threat or someone that will get into his shot off the ball screen facing more neutral coverages as opposed to setting the tone for the unit. In other words, he’s a complementary talent.

McCollum is one of the more efficient threats in the NBA at scoring out of ball screens and off the catch — both of which are crucial to unlocking the most success in a half-court offense reliant on Joel Embiid.
While McCollum isn’t Damian Lillard, he could be an intriguing backcourt partner alongside Tyrese Maxey for the 76ers. Adding Robert Covington into the mix would be an intriguing option on the wing to play either forward position while Georges Niang can also shoulder a greater role.
