Would this trade make sense for the Portland Trail Blazers?

It’s clear there is a need for the Portland Trail Blazers to make some changes to their supporting cast around Damian Lillard sooner rather than later.

There is a real limit on the type of assets the Trail Blazers have at their disposal in order to make a potential trade. CJ McCollum is a talent who would appeal to many teams and would be the easiest player to land a favorable return for while making a meaningful change to the roster.

In a scenario where McCollum would be moved to the Philadelphia 76ers, the Trail Blazers would be unlikely to land Ben Simmons unless something significant were to change about that situation. Their sights are set on the other part of Portland’s backcourt — Damian Lillard.

Tobias Harris would bring an intriguing new element to the Trail Blazers’ half-court offense. He could serve as a short-roll threat as a screener for Lillard against blitzes or attack guards after switching happens.

The Trail Blazers have lacked much for offensive talent in the frontcourt for quite some time. It’s worth trying something different than relying on low usage spot-up threats.
