David Nwaba – Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets are rebuilding and while they have won three straight games, this trend is not going to continue much longer. This Rockets team is one of the worst in the league in terms of total talent and while they have a lot of young, talented players, it is going to take a few years for things to come together for this group.
Finding ways to move on from some of their older, veteran talents is going to be a goal of this front-office at the trade deadline which makes Eric Gordon, John Wall and Danuel House Jr. prime trade targets for teams across the league. For the Hawks, this makes David Nwaba a potentially attractive trade target.
Nwaba signed a three-year, $15M deal with the Rockets this past offseason, making him ineligible to be traded until sometime in January, but he is definitely an experienced wing that the Atlanta Hawks could look to utilize given all of their injuries.
Now in his 6th season in the league, David Nwaba has always been a consistent scorer on the wing, averaging 7.0 points per game for his career, and he has shot 48.9% from the floor for his career. Shooting just 30.9% from deep is a concern for Atlanta given that they are one of the better three-point shooting teams in the league, but David Nwaba is definitely a key two-way player that knows his role.

This move to pursue David Nwaba does not make the Hawks a legit contender again, but it at least provides some stability and they can rely on the veteran to give them anywhere from 4-8 points a night off-the-bench, as well as be a reliable factor in his limited minutes.
The Hawks need more wing depth with Hunter, Reddish and Bogdanovic all injured, which is why going after David Nwaba, who is on a smaller contract, is definitely a move that could pay off.
