This Clippers-Rockets Trade Involves John Wall To L.A.

After agreeing to sit out for the foreseeable future at the beginning of the NBA season until he and the Houston Rockets can figure out a potential trade, John Wall now wants to return to the court and begin playing again.

On Monday, Wall informed the Houston Rockets of his desire to play for the organization again while also not counting out the possibility of a trade still.  The 31-year-old point guard was traded to Houston last season from the Wizards for Russell Westbrook, a deal that has not seemed to work out for either side to this point.

Wall, a former All-Star, is making roughly $44M this season and is set to make $47M next season, assuming he opts into his player option. Not many teams in the league can afford any player on this kind of contract, hence why it is near impossible for John Wall to be traded.

Obviously having him back would not hurt the Houston Rockets, but should they even want him back at this point? Kevin Porter Jr. has been great for them at the point guard position and with all the young talents they are looking to incorporate for their future plans, Wall really does not fit anything the Rockets are doing right now.

LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: 3 Teams Should Continue To Monitor John Wall’s Availability

As the trade deadline in February approaches, the Houston Rockets are expected to once again search league-wide for any teams who are interested in John Wall, but their search is likely to come up empty once again.

However, one team who could show interest in Wall depending on where they are in the standings is the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Paul George led Clippers are currently 11-10 on the season and have seemed to hit a roadblock after their hot 9-5 start.

This season is going to be very bumpy for Los Angeles since Kawhi Leonard is going to be out until sometime late in the season, so adding a player like John Wall could definitely be beneficial to this group.

Given their cap situation, do the Clippers even have the ability to trade for John Wall’s $44M contract for this season? Let’s take a look at a trade scenario put together by Bleacher Report’s Dan Favale that would result in the Rockets and Clippers agreeing to terms on a deal centered around the 5-time All-Star.
