Would this trade make sense for the Sacramento Kings?
It has been a real challenge for the Sacramento Kings to compete at a high-level for many years. While De’Aaron Fox has been an impactful player in his NBA career, he just hasn’t had nearly enough help to turn things around.
Landing a player like Jaylen Brown would mostly be helpful to the Kings if they were to be able to pair such a talent with Fox — not if it would require giving up Fox to land him.
Winning at a high level requires multiple star players and until one of the Kings’ younger players takes the leap to that status, Fox isn’t going to have sufficient support. Brown can’t do it at that level by himself either.
If the Boston Celtics have been unable to contend in the Eastern Conference with Brown as a franchise cornerstone with a talent like Jayson Tatum alongside him, would the Kings fare all that well after this trade?
