The New Orleans Pelicans are attempting to build around Zion Williamson, whenever he’s able to get back on the floor. An often forgotten name is that of another Duke star. Brandon Ingram has flown under the radar around the NBA at times but could be a big trade piece for New Orleans.

When Williamson is off the floor, Ingram is the best player for the New Orleans Pelicans. He has improved each year since being in the league and has taken his game to the next level since being traded to New Orleans.

Ingram can score from all three levels and as one of the premier point forwards in the game. On the defensive end of the floor, Ingram is not going to win any awards but he is an above-average player that uses his length well.

These are all attributes that could benefit some contending teams. The 24-year-old has come up in many rumors because of his ability on both ends. Ingram has the ability to fit into different schemes and still has plenty of value. New Orleans has its plan moving forward.

Williamson is the player they want to keep long-term and bills around. It is unlikely how this will happen but Ingram could be part of the plan in terms of bringing back assets.

The building already began in the offseason when the New Orleans Pelicans acquired Devonte’ Graham. Now, they could get some more players and assets for Ingram if they find a trade partner. These three teams could be in the mix if Ingram is made available this season.
