Trade Targets — Josh Hart, F/G, New Orleans Pelicans

Josh Hart is a player that many believe could be on the move ahead of the NBA trade deadline. The New Orleans Pelicans have struggled mightily and Zion Williamson hasn’t even been able to play this season due to injury issues. With that in mind, New Orleans could consider selling off some of their talent.

Why would Hart be the kind of player that the Charlotte Hornets should have interest in adding? Quite simply, he is a very good defender and a guy who rebounds well and can score the ball. He is a do-it-all style of player.

So far this season in 11 games, he has started in 10 of his appearances. Hart has averaged 10.8 points per game to go along with 6.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists. He has also shot 48.9 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 38.5 percent of his three-point attempts.

At just 26 years of age, Hart would fit into the long-term picture for the Hornets as well. He signed a reasonable three-year deal prior to the start of this season, which would give Charlotte two more years with him in addition to the rest of this season. That is the kind of piece that they should have interest in acquiring.

Granted, there is no guarantee that the Pelicans will look to move on from Hart this season. They could opt to keep him on the roster and hope that Williamson returning will result in more success. However, should they decide they need to make a move and Hart is available, the Hornets would be wise to look into the idea.

Expect to see the Hornets get involved in quite a few trade discussions around the NBA trade deadline. Josh Hart may not end up in Charlotte, but he’s a name to keep an eye on.
