Cole Anthony is Putting Up Big Numbers
Through 11 games, Anthony is averaging 20.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.1 steals, and is shooting 44.8% from the floor, 41.4% from three-point range. They may only be 3-8 on the season, but the young guard has made this Magic team a very exciting team to watch.
“I know these guys are going to continue to get better every single day,” new head coach Jamahl Mosley said following his team’s victory over the Utah Jazz on Sunday. “Us being able to share and move the basketball and trust the pass, that’s going to be the message that we continue to hit home on [offense].”
In said game, Cole Anthony was spectacular, scoring a career-high 33 points on 13-20 shooting (5-10 3PT) and also recording 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks. In 47 total games last season, Anthony scored 20-plus points in just 4 games and he has already done so 6 times to begin this season, leading to fans in Amway Center chanting his name and “MVP” when he is at the free-throw line.
“I’m super happy to everybody who was into it and cheering for me but I want to be realistic with myself. I don’t feel like I deserve it yet,” Anthony told reporters after the game. I want to get to a point where they can rightfully say that — the fans — and I can I feel like I’m a serious contender, but I’m not there yet.”
