Would this trade make sense for the Portland Trail Blazers?
This all comes down to if the Portland Trail Blazers want to significantly shake things up. If Damian Lillard requests a trade, they might not have a choice. For the sake of the argument, let’s say that Ben Simmons is now next to Lillard in Portland. This means that he will have to adjust a bit.
Lillard would have to take on even more scoring ability. This is not something that Simmons is capable of at this point. He would have to improve drastically on that end of the floor.
With that being said, Simmons is an asset because of his size and ability to defend along the perimeter. He can pass at a high level and is a relatively smart player. Simmons just struggles to put the ball in the basket and this has been the problem over the course of his career.
Lillard is good enough to pick up the extra slack and might be able to help Simmons offensively over the course of their time together.

Portland has been unable to build a winner with the duo of Lillard and McCollum so why not try something else? This would certainly shake things up for both sides right away this season.
