Dallas Mavericks Receive: G Terrence Ross
Orlando Magic Receive: C/F Dwight Powell, G Josh Green, 2025 First-Round Pick (top-10 protected)
The Dallas Mavericks face a need to add more offensive firepower around Luka Doncic as the team looks toward making a playoff appearance that ends in a lengthy run.
It has been a struggle to convert from the perimeter for the Mavericks in the early goings of the season. Adding a versatile scorer and shooting threat in Terrence Ross would go a long way.
The Mavericks gave up two first-round picks in part of the Kristaps Porzigis trade. Giving up anymore could be a tough proposition for Dallas to stomach. However, part of this is to move on from Dwight Powell, too.
Josh Green, the Mavericks’ first-round selection in the 2020 NBA Draft, would be on the move in this particular NBA trade scenario, too. He didn’t receive much for an opportunity during his rookie campaign and has not been a factor early in the Jason Kidd era either.

A change of scenery in an opportunity where he could receive an extended run appears best for Green. He would get precisely that as a member of the Magic. Powell would be thrown into a deal to make the money work given Orlando’s overabundance of centers.
How does this deal impact both teams involved? Let’s take a look at it from each of their perspectives, starting with the Mavericks.
