3. Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors are playing some excellent basketball to start the season. They are 6-1 despite not having multiple rotation players in the lineup yet. James Wiseman is still recovering from a knee injury he suffered in April and Klay Thompson is working his way back from ACL and Achilles injuries.
When they get those two back, they will be even more dangerous. But, Warriors’ ownership has never been one to idly sit by. If there is a chance to upgrade the roster and keep their championship window open, they will do it.
Right now the only thing Golden State seemingly is battling against is Father Time. Eventually, the Warriors’ core of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Thompson won’t be able to carry the team anymore and Golden State doesn’t want to waste that window. That is partly why monitoring a trade for someone such as Karl-Anthony Towns would make sense.
The center position is the only spot the Warriors are currently unsure of going forward. Wiseman has immense potential, but is he ready to contribute to a team looking for a title? If not, they could look to package him and some of their other assets for a major upgrade, which Towns would represent.
