LA Clippers Receive: F Thaddeus Young, G Bryn Forbes
San Antonio Spurs Receive: G Luke Kennard, F/C Serge Ibaka, 2022 Second Round Pick, 2025 Second Round Pick (via DET)
Thaddeus Young would be on his way to the LA Clippers in this particular NBA trade scenario. The veteran would be rejoining his former teammate from his Indiana Pacers days, Paul George, who could use some more help while Kawhi Leonard remains sidelined.
Young was part of the sign-and-trade deal that landed DeMar DeRozan in Chicago this offseason. It’s clear that Young is not a long-term piece for the San Antonio Spurs, so landing value for him in a trade makes the most sense.
In return, the Spurs would add Luke Kennard to their young core. He has played some valuable minutes for the Clippers and could bring a lot to San Antonio. The Spurs would also land Isaiah Hartenstein as a piece.
The Spurs have sought a first-round pick in trade talks with teams so far, but have not received an offer with one on the table, which is why Thaddeus Young enters the season as a member of the team.
