New Orleans Pelicans Receive: G Russell Westbrook, G Wayne Ellington
Los Angeles Lakers Receive: G Devonte’ Graham, F Josh Hart, G Tomas Satoranski, G Garrett Temple

This would be the second blockbuster trade that the Los Angeles Lakers and New Orleans Pelicans have made recently. They have experience negotiating, as the Lakers are who landed Anthony Davis when he asked out of New Orleans.

For this deal to go through, the teams would have to wait a few months. Because Josh Hart re-signed with the Pelicans using Bird Rights, he cannot be included in a trade until March 3rd. There are other recently signed restrictions as well, but those expire on November 4th and 17th.

Along with Hart, the Lakers are adding a ton of depth in their backcourt and on the wing. All three players heading to Los Angeles have already been involved in trades this offseason.

Devonte’ Graham went from the Charlotte Hornets to Pelicans in a sign-and-trade. Tomas Satoransky and Garrett Temple landed in New Orleans via sign-and-trade with the Chicago Bulls, who landed Lonzo Ball.

Heading back to New Orleans is the headline in this deal, Russell Westbrook. It is the fifth team in four seasons that he would be playing for. Joining him is veteran Wayne Ellington, who is included to help match the salaries.

This trade would certainly shake things up for both teams. How is each of them impacted? Let’s take a look at it from each of their perspectives, starting with the Pelicans.
