Would this trade make sense for the Washington Wizards?
The Washington Wizards are in an interesting position and they will have to make a decision on which direction they are heading. After a postseason appearance last year thanks to their dynamic duo, the Wizards could go all in once again. Russell Westbrook is now in Los Angeles and Fox could be the new piece next to Beal.
Landing a star-caliber talent in De’Aaron Fox would be the major benefit of this deal. It would not make much sense for Washington to acquire Fox if they are going to end up sending Bradley Beal away at some point.
If the two were in the same backcourt, it would be intriguing for Wizards to build around them. Beal is one of the best scorers in the league while Fox is an All-Star caliber point guard who is continuing to improve. He would fit well next to Beal in the rotation.
A benefit of an NBA trade scenario of this kind for the Wizards is that Spencer Dinwiddie would not be on the move — enabling the option to utilize him as an elite sixth-man option in the bench unit.
