Are The Warriors Championship Contenders Again?

Steph Curry is playing like an MVP at 33-years-old, Draymond Green is still a Defensive Player of the Year candidate and the “motor” of this Warriors team, they have plenty of bench depth for once, and it is looking more and more likely that Klay Thompson will be making his return to the court in December. This Warriors team has everything they need right now and they are only going to improve as the season goes on.

The scariest thing about this team though is the fact that their rotational players like Poole, Lee, Toscano-Anderson, and others are going to continue to get better and their future Hall-of-Famers are getting better as well! At 33-years-old, Curry is still one of the best scorers in the league and he has shown no signs of slowing down.

Both Thompson and Wiseman are currently out for the Warriors right now, yet this team has still managed to start the year 4-0 with wins over the likes of the Lakers, Clippers, Kings, and Thunder.

With their next eight games at home, six of which against teams who missed the playoffs last year, it is not hard to believe that this team could continue to remain at the top the Western Conference standing through the month of November.

Steve Kerr has drawn his fair share of criticism throughout the years with many stating that he inherited an already great team, but Kerr has really helped mold this organization into the championship-worthy team they are.

Given all his experiences with Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls and going through “The Last Dance” season with Chicago during the 1997-98 year has really shaped him into being a great head coach in this league and Kerr’s presence resonates with his players.

“He gives players a lot of freedom, but also has the ability to reel them in,” veteran big man Kevon Looney said in regards to his head coach. “All the new guys talk about how much freedom they have here and how open it is and how much confidence Steve gives the players. That’s the biggest thing. Confidence is key. At this level, a lot of guys have talent but when you have the freedom and the green light to do what you do, it takes your game to another level.”

Everything is clicking right now for the Golden State Warriors and if they can continue to play well through the month of November, they will undoubtedly be heavy favorites in the Western Conference, especially with James Wiseman and Klay Thompson working their way back from injuries and both of them expected to be back out on the court before 2022.

Hate them or love them, the Golden State Warriors look like the top-tier team they were not too long ago and if they keep up how they have been playing, not only will Stephen Curry be a top favorite to win his third MVP award, but the Warriors could very well look to win their 4th title in the last 8 seasons.
