Oklahoma City Thunder
The Oklahoma City Thunder are building something special right now and while they may very well finish with the worst record in the league, they have a lot of potential on their roster for years to come.
Shai GIlgeous-Alexander, Luguentz Dort, Darius Bazley, Aleksej Pokusevski, Josh Giddey and others represent one of the better young cores in the league and Marvin Bagley III could be yet another key addition for this team.
When you look at the Thunder’s roster, they have things solidified in their backcourt and potential even on the wing, but their frontcourt is a mess right now. Derrick Favors and Mike Muscala are not the future of this team at the center position and Isaiah Roby is not their key power-forward for the future.
Trading for Marvin Bagley not only gives Oklahoma City a starting-caliber power-forward, but a young player they can invest in/pair with guys like Gilgeous-Alexander and Giddey for the foreseeable future.
What the Kings would want from the Oklahoma City Thunder is a question mark, but if they want draft picks, this would be no problem for Sam Presti and this team’s front office.

The Thunder have a total of 35 draft picks through the 2028 NBA Draft, so they can definitely leverage one to acquire Bagley with no long-term problems in terms of draft assets. The Oklahoma City Thunder also have a $12.8M TPE that is going to expire this season from when they traded Trevor Ariza to the Miami Heat.
Bagley’s $11M contract for this season would fit into this trade exception, not that the Thunder need it to, so there would be no problems with Oklahoma City making a trade for Bagley.
Seeing as they are under the salary cap floor for the 2021-22 season, adding another contract is something this team needs to do and why not take a chance on a former top pick who is in the final year of his contract?
